General Manager's Message

Dear Members, I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday season and that 2024 brings you excellent health and happiness. We are kicking off the start of the new year with an exciting events calendar. There are so many wonderful events being offered for you and your family. Please check out the details for several adult and family events. The staff has been working hard at being creative so you can stay busy during the cold winter months. Don’t miss Family Bingo, Father-Daughter and Mother-Son Dances, 80s Night, Dueling Pianos Party, or Comedy Night. During the month of March, we will be trying something special at Legacy and offering Legacy Steakhouse Wednesday through Saturday from March 6th to 30th. During this time, we will not offer the typical Aqua menu. Please check out the new Steakhouse concept menu on the website's homepage.

I am pleased to introduce you to our new Director of Finance, Tim Andrews. Tim comes to us most recently from Alabama Farm Credit where he was the Controller. Before that, he worked for McCartney Construction as their Controller and spent over 17 years in public accounting. He is a graduate of Jacksonville State University and is a CPA. He has a daughter, Cassidy, who is a senior at the University of South Alabama. He is very active in his church and gym. Please welcome him when you have a chance. With our growing membership and spring being our most popular time of year for golf, we will be opening each course six days per week

fromMarch 1 through June 9. One important note is that from April 29-May 12, the Founders course is closed for the Regions Tradition. Mondays will be the closed day at Founders, and Tuesdays will be the closed day at Legacy during the six day per week period. I hope you enjoy more time on the course. We will evaluate our play in 2024, and if it is warranted, we will add another period of 6 days in the late summer and early fall of 2025. There are some important capital projects coming forward in the first quarter. First, past President of Greystone, Mark McGarvey, has generously donated the funds for us to build a stone wall in front of #2 green at Legacy and the opposite side of the pond in front of #9 tee at Legacy. He is a Charter member of the Club who gave his time tirelessly to serve on the Board for four years, including President and founded the Greystone Outreach Foundation. His love for Greystone is remarkable, and he is setting an example for other members to work with the Board on assisting with funding important projects. Against his wishes, I encourage you to thank him for his generosity in making these improvements happen. They will be completed by mid-February. Other important first quarter projects include replacement of the Legacy kitchen floor and dish machine, fitness center flooring replacement, and improvements to the right side of the #15 fairway at Legacy. Jason will send out an explanation of that project via email before the work. Other projects that are not as exciting include HVAC replacement, safety netting at tennis for protection from errant golf balls, and a new sand filter for the pool. Thanks to all of you, the Board, staff, and especially Ashley Devine, we have increased our membership to the point of establishing a waitlist in the near term.
