President'sMessage
The Legend Grows. We kicked off the year remembering the initial vision of Greystone Golf & Country Club as “A Legend In The Making.” For the past thirty years, your leadership and staff have constantly kept an eye on the horizon to make sure that Greystone lived up to this vision. Our goal this year was to communicate to you, the owners of Greystone, how important it is for your club to strategically reinvent itself and grow in order to meet the needs and desires of our future generations of members. It is an honor to report that we have officially begun another amazing period of growth in Greystone’s short history! Your club leaders have approved four major construction initiatives that we have studied over the past five years. Construction on one of our most pressing needs, the Lakeside Activity Center, has already started with the installation of our two resort slides along with finalizing the bids with the construction companies to begin the work on the pickleball courts, fencing and landscaping. This project is scheduled to be completed by Spring of 2022. Your gifts to this project are very important and much appreciated! Many of you have responded as faithful owners of your club and we know that many more will be giving to this project in the coming months. Slated to begin in April of 2022, the second construction project will be the renovation of the Legacy Clubhouse to include an additional 30% seating capacity along with the expansion and increased usage of the outdoor patio areas, updated designs, furnishings and accessories. With more of our membership growth occurring down the Hwy 119 area, it is important that we take advantage of the wonderful facility we already have at Legacy. We will be improving the indoor seating for our fine dining area (presently Amici’s) and expanding the outdoor seating as well. Plans are to convert Amici’s into an upscale steakhouse during 2022 while maintaining some of your favorite Italian dishes on the menu. The Mixed Grilled will also include expanded indoor seating in conjunction with a 30-seat outdoor bar designed to be utilized year-round. There will also be a new Adult Grill toward the Pro Shop end of the present clubhouse and behind it in the present Men’s Locker Room will be two state-of-the-art golf simulators that can be used by the entire family. This will be an amazing transformation of the Legacy Clubhouse that will only further enhance the excitement surrounding our next project. Scheduled to begin in June of 2022, the third construction project involves a major renovation of the Legacy course to include the replacement of the putting surfaces, reworking of the bunkers, new Zoysia grass on the tee boxes and many other necessary changes. The Rees Jones architectural firm has already made one visit to the Legacy Course and will be presenting their initial proposals in the coming days. We will be forming several focus groups to meet with the architects and provide our feedback as well during this process. It is important to remember that while we all have our favorite wants and desires that we would like to see incorporated during these renovations, we must trust the experts to ultimately decide what is best for the entire membership as a whole. This work on our Legacy Course will only solidify its place as one of the top courses in the entire country.
Our fourth construction project will focus on the irrigation system at the Founders Course. This work will begin a couple of weeks following the Regions Tradition in 2023 and should be completed over the course of four to five months. Based on past experience
3
with this type of project, the course will only be completely closed for about three weeks while the main lines are put into place. Our goal is to schedule this closing in conjunction with the aerification of the greens as well. All of the satellite work can be done on a hole-by-hole basis while the other 17 holes are open for play. While most of the physical plant will end up below ground, the effects above ground will be amazing! This irrigation project has the capacity to completely transform the look and playability of the Founders course. Prior to the Founders irrigation project, we will be working with Bill Bergin’s Golf Design group to insure that we will be making any needed changes to the course as well as supporting any future needs that might arise. Some of the additional work in 2023 will be reworking numerous tee boxes along with some drainage work and tree removal. Your leadership and staff have planned numerous opportunities to discuss these projects with you in the coming weeks and months. Many of these will include onsite dinners or casual gatherings where our staff can show you the actual work as it is happening. Please take advantage of these events designed to help you learn more about your club and to further understand where your investments are going. Also, Mr. Porter and your Board are always available to answer your questions and listen to your feedback. The Master Capital Plan for the next five years will touch practically every aspect of our Greystone Campus. Some of this work will not be as visible to you as other parts, but rest assured it is all designed to further enhance the net asset value of your investments! By constantly supporting your club when making it your first choice for dining, exercise, entertainment and relaxation, you will be investing in the wonderful future of your club! It has truly been an honor and a privilege to serve as your President over the past year! I want to thank Mr. Porter and the entire Greystone administrative team and staff for their help during the past year and during all of my previous five years on your Board. We would not be where we are as a club without their support. I would also like to thank our Board, our Club Trustees and our many past Presidents including Mr. Charlie Tickle, for their advice and support. And above all I want to thank each of you, our members, for your support of your club! There is an amazing air of excitement surrounding Greystone and I sincerely hope that you are as excited as I am about the future of our great club! As we remember our past, we are thankful for the many blessings we have already obtained. When we enjoy our family and friends that sur- round us in the present we are making new memories. And, if we faithfully plan for the future, we can continue to achieve great things here at Greystone and in life!
Looking forward to “Growing Our Legend” together! See you at The Stone!
Dale Gorham Club President, 2021

GeneralManager'sMessage
Dear Members,
I hope this message finds you well.
We have an exciting Fall and holiday season ahead at the Club. The team has worked through some challenges this past quarter related to staffing and we are now getting to the other side; with the hiring of several great team members. It is very important to me that we are always on the leading edge and not on the bleeding edge of club industry services, events and programs provided. This period was difficult to deliver at the level we expect from ourselves, and I assure you we are ready to deliver at a high level again. By the time you get this newsletter we will have installed the new double slide at the pool. The kids will have something great to look forward to next summer. Several were able to get a weekend of fun out of it. This was made possible because of all the generous members who donated to the Lakeside Activity Center giving campaign. We have almost completed our capital spending for 2021. We will be looking to complete some paving in the Founders parking lot this fall to continue maintaining the Club at a high level. Also, we will be working with Interiorscapes for new indoor plants throughout the Founders Clubhouse. Members can continue to enjoy live music on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings on the Cellar Patio through November 5th and then we will convert back to just Friday evenings inside; unless we get an unseasonably warm night.
As Mr. Gorham discussed, the Board and management are work- ing through several capital improvements for 2022 that will include renovations to the Legacy Golf Course, Legacy Clubhouse, & Lakeside Activity Center. Also, new Cellar patio furniture, new awning for the back of the Founder’s Clubhouse, installation of artificial turf on the back of the range tees, a bar at the pool, and several other items to be determined. Once approved by the Board and the timing, cost, and funding are determined, we will be sharing detailed information by letters, video, and informal in-person meetings. This is a very exciting time for Greystone! Membership continues to be growing thanks to so many new prospective members choosing Greystone as their home away from home. We are very thankful to members referring friends and the hard work of Ashley Devine and Josh Marks. We have a calendar full of events for the fall, golf courses will be in great shape, the tennis and fitness programming are great, a new menu for Cellar 91 and Amici every two weeks, plus we are unveiling our fall Café menu for those favorite fall drinks like a Pumpkin Spice Latte.
I am excited to see you at the Club. Please call or email me anytime if you need something.
All the best,
Dave General Manager
