PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello Greystone Members! This year has been challenging yet exciting here at Greystone. Your Club has overcome challenges, and with your tremendous support, made 2020 a great year to be a Member of Greystone Golf & Country Club. The Board of Directors has led this Club with so much foresight and dedication that has kept us moving forward in a positive manner. These gentlemen dedicated many, many hours of meetings and communication, all the while maintaining their family lifestyle and business operations. I want to personally thank this great group of passionate leaders; these gentlemen have been amazing this year: Lane Milam Dale Gorham Danny Bowers Scott Ferguson Bhrett McCabe Mark McGarvey Todd Reeves George Trible

When you see a Board Member, please take a moment to thank them for their tireless efforts in maintaining the integrity and compassion of our Club through their leadership and selfless service on your Board. Our Committee Chairs play a very strong role in assisting the Board and General Manager with their Committee's recommendations and I'd like to recognize and thank our Committee Chairs for their leadership and dedication: Larry Goldberg, Golf; Mike Manahan, Membership Marketing; Chuck Kramer, Swim, Tennis & Fitness; Dennis Pauls, Dining & Social; and Ron Stanfa, Regions Committee. Please mark your calendars for our Annual Membership Meeting on November 19th at 6:00 P.M. at Founders. At this meeting, Board election results will be announced. Be sure to check your mail and emails outlining the future board's slate of candidates. Thanks to George Trible for his outstanding job as Chairman of this year's Nominating Committee. As we venture into fall, football and cool evenings on the Patio around the fire with family and friends, it comforting and exciting to know our greatest seasons are upon us! October in all its glory is showcased all around our Club, golf courses and homes. Mother Nature is very generous to us in Greystone with multiple fall colors reflected by the October sun. Truly a bountiful season and we are prepared to capture each essence of glory with our exciting array of events from Oktoberfest to Christmas Eve Brunch. This is the perfect season to reflect on our blessings, our family and our friends. During the next 3 months, please watch for updates on our Strategic Planning Process, The Greystone Foundation, Membership, Golf Tournaments, Golf Clinics, Tennis Tournaments, Fitness Center Offerings, Financial Reports, Special Events and menu changes in our restaurants. Also, please remember to make reservations so the staff can be prepared to give you the great service and experience you deserve! Our General Manager, Dave Porter, and all his staff deserve a huge congratulations for their hard work and dedication this year. They "stayed the course" and provided us with as many events and with as much normalcy as possible while working hard to ensure your experience was memorable. Please take a moment to thank them individually when you see them on the Campus. As my tenure as President of Greystone Golf & Country Club comes to a close at the end of this year, I would like to thank you for the honor of serving as your President 2020. Your tremendous support, whether serving on the Board, Committees, attending events, golfing regularly, or dining often, helped our Club navigate through new territory. You, our Members, who are our true Ambassadors, made 2020 a great year for me as President, and together we made it an amazing year for Greystone Golf & Country Club. On behalf of the Board of Directors & the Staff, thank you for being a part of the Greystone Golf & Country Club family! Janice Folmar Club President, 2020

GENERAL MANAGER'S MESSAGE

Dear Members, I hope this newsletter finds you well. The staff is excited about a great fall season ahead. We have some amazing events for you and your family to enjoy. Please take some time to check out the calendar and all of the excellent sports programming. One of our great accomplishments of 2020 has been opening three new food and beverage concepts at Greystone. Cellar 91 was rebranded as

family casual with contemporary southern cuisine, while featuring lots of fun with our new oyster bar, live music on Friday and Saturday evenings, ice cream bar for dessert and continuing Wine Down Wednesdays. Amici, our Italian white tablecloth restaurant, is open four nights per week at Legacy and features a new menu every other week by authentic Italian Chef Ciro Mancini. The Café is our boutique coffee shop with specialty coffee drinks and homemade pastries. You cannot sit at Starbucks, but if you could, you would be looking at the parking lot. At the Greystone Café you can overlook the golf course and beautiful scenery. The Café welcomes you to stop in, call ahead to order, relax & enjoy time with friends, or get some work done. It is open 6am-3pm every day. We are approximately 50% complete with the refurbishment project on the Tennis Courts. The surface is being replaced, relined, drainage repaired, fences repaired, new sprinkler heads put in, and new wind screens installed. This project is scheduled for completion by the end of October. Now that the last aerification has been completed for 2020, both courses will be in equally great condition for the next few months. Jason has recently completed a good amount of tree removal of dead and severely declining trees adjacent to playing areas. Thanks to the members who were able to participate in the recent facilities planning focus groups with Chambers USA. The discussions were very productive and will help Chambers shape a club-wide survey regarding the long-term facilities planning for Greystone. Your participation in the survey will be vital and appreciated. As we continue to work through the challenges of COVID-19, please take time to assist us with wearing a mask inside buildings, ensuring you feel well when coming to the Club, frequent hand washing, and making reservations for dinner. It is so important during these challenging times that we know in advance for staffing properly. The staff requirements for service during COVID-19 require many more steps to ensure your safety. Thank you for your effort in making the experience safer and more enjoyable for you and your fellow members. I look forward to seeing you around the Club during this exciting time of year. Best Regards, Dave Porter General Manager

'Twas three months before Christmas when we started to ask, "The Holidays are coming will Santa be masked? How will we stay socially distanced too?" The answer was obvious, only Santa Claus knew. We called the North Pole to speak to an elf, but we didn't expect to get Santa himself. "Mr. Claus," we said, "what should we do? Haven't you heard COVID's worse than the flu?" His voice was so jolly, his words like a song, "Well this just means I'll be there all month long! We'll spread out each visit and ask parents some questions, to keep us safe and prevent any infections." With that we set up not one, two, nor three, but four Santa visits on weekends by the tree. So reserve your seats now, and don’t hesitate for Santa will be here on the following dates:

BRUNCH WITH SANTA DECEMBER 6TH , 12TH & 13TH

We will be doing things differently this year with a family style brunch instead of a buffet. Come share your Christmas wishes and get pictures with Santa at the Founders Main Dining Room & Foyer. See the menu on page 13.

VISIT WITH SANTA DECEMBER 20TH

Last chance to see Santa! Though there'll be no sitting in laps this year, Santa will still be out at Founders for a final round of photos and to hear everyone's Christmas wishes. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED Call 205.980.5200 or login to greystonecc.com . All families will be required to fill a form prior to the day of the event. Upon arrival all attendees must have their temperature checked via contactless thermometer before entering the Clubhouse.

FAQ with SANTA Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF COOKIE? A: "I get asked this a lot and the answer is simple, my favorite is round cookies, but I'll eat just about any cookie shape you can make. What nobody ever asks me is 'what other foods do I like?' and my answer to that is a delicious rack of lamb with a small glass of sherry." Q: WHAT IS CHRISTMAS MAGIC? A: "It's important to know that Christmas Magic only works on Christmas Eve, it's what makes my reindeer fly and it helps me get down each chimney at night. This year it will keep me safe from COVID-19 as I visit each home, but again this only works on Christmas Eve. Every other day of the year I need to be safe and smart so that the elves and I will be healthy enough to deliver presents come Christmas." Q: HOW DO YOU KNOW WHICH HOUSE IS MINE? A: "When you've lived as long as I have you learn to find your way without needing things like GPS. Since the reindeer fly from house to house, I have learned the rooftops of each family and know exactly who lives there from a single glimpse." Q: WHAT'S IT LIKE AT THE NORTH POLE? A: "This year has been an interesting year at the North Pole, we expanded our workshop so that the elves could work six feet apart; of course, everyone is masked. For our annual snowball fights we had to sanitize after each snowball was thrown and we filled the stands with snowmen to be our audience."
