The Stone April - June 2021 Newsletter

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Greystone’s 30th Year has truly blossomed into view in exciting fashion! The 2021 Regions Tradition is back during the first week of May, our Membership continues to grow, the Spring Calendar is crammed with amazing events and the Board will be communicating our long-range strategic plans for the growth of your club in the coming weeks! Please take the time to study our newsletter, visit our website often, plug-in to our social media and download the Greystone app to your phone. This is the most exciting time in the history of Greystone, and you do not want to miss a single thing! The golf and social event of our year, the Regions Tradition, is planned for the week of May 3-9, 2021 and will conclude once again on Mother’s Day Sunday! The Regions Tradition is a vital part of our club and our community and it is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Greystone to those around the world looking to find a home here! We are expecting our best field of PGA TOUR

Champions ever with names like Defending Champions Steve Stricker, Past Champions Miguel Angel Jiménez, Bernhard Langer, Tom Lehman, Jeff Maggert, and many others. In addition, the 2020-2021 rookie class is highlighted by a star- studded group that has tallied eight victories thus far during the 2020-21 season, including two each by Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk and Darren Clarke! An integral part of the Regions Tradition success is the many volunteers who contribute their time, money, and effort to help support the event and in turn, support the many charities who benefit from the tournament including Children’s of Alabama Hospital. There are over two dozen volunteers who have worked every single event since the inaugural Bruno’s Memorial Classic in 1992! Greystone members naturally play a vital part in these volunteer efforts and I want to encourage each of our members – and especially our newer members - to register as volunteers for 2021! It is a great opportunity to watch your golfing heroes and to support so many worthwhile charities. Since January of 2020, Greystone has experienced positive membership growth for 15 consecutive months - which is an unprecedented period in the 30-year history of our club! During this time, we have added over 120 new member-families to our club! In March of 2021 alone, we added 25 new members! This is an amazing team effort between our Membership Marketing staff, your Board, your Committees, the entire Greystone staff and especially you our members! Based on the conversations we have with our new prospects, we are in the third round of new members who have invited their friends, who in turn invited their friends to join! We are so excited to see these new families and we are well on our way to our goal of 1,000 Greystone members! The word is out about what an amazing place Greystone is, so you better invite your friends to join before we are full! Our Spring Social Calendar is chocked full of so many amazing events, we can hardly list them all in this newsletter! Please be sure to mark your social calendars for our Easter events, our three Sunset Cruises, the Titanic Dinner, Bingo Nights, Trivia Night, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day brunches, our themed dinners, Kid’s Breakfasts, the Grand Opening of the pool, our Memorial Day weekend blowout, Dinner on the Green and many, many more events! Plus, our Kids Summer Camps start in June so be sure to register for those. What an amazing three months of social events are ahead! Our major golf events include the SEC Women’s Golf Championship April 13-18 (L), the Regions Tradition May 3-9 (F), the Men’s Spring Member-Guest May 19-22 (F, L), Tillie Bailey Memorial May 27-28 (F), Men’s Senior Club Championship May 29-30 (F), Men’s Summer Member-Guest June 2-5 (F, L) and Men’s Match Play June 12-13 (L).
