April - June 2023 Newsletter

General Manager's Message Dear Members, I am sure you are as excited as I am that Spring is finally here. We have many wonderful things happening at the Club. Please stay up to date by reading our emails, social media posts, visiting the website, and using the club App. We are just weeks away from the 2023 Regions Tradition Tournament being held at Greystone through 2032. There are great bands booked each night for your enjoyment and new member-only areas to enjoy with friends and family. Another big event is our June 11th concert, with Jonathan Hutcherson opening for our Headliners Maddie and Tae. Maddie and Tae are a country duo who have received 5 CMA Award Nominations since 2017. Jonathan was a contestant on Season 10 of the Voice with Team Pharrell. This will be an exciting event with member Deno Posey as MC and local artist Dennis Mitchell kicking off the festivities. You can buy tickets on our website. Please plan to be at Greystone on July 4th this year for our holiday event with the best fireworks in the area. We will celebrate Tuesday, July 4th with a daytime pool party, afternoon parade, DJ, kid’s activities, concessions, and indoor buffet capped off with the fireworks show. We love our live music at Greystone, so we will begin having live music on the Cellar 91 patio Wednesdays through Saturdays (weather permitting and barring any private event conflicts) beginning Wednesday, April 5th through September. We are re-launching our Ambassador Program. By now, you have received the initial email asking for your participation from our team. This program will pair members who are involved and passionate about their Club, with prospective and new members. This will allow members to host at the Club and welcome newly joined members to the Club. I am pleased to welcome Torry Breehl as our new Aquatics and Youth Activities Director. Torry is moving to Birmingham from the Akron, Ohio area. She has excellent experience working at the YMCA and Fairlawn Country Club. Torry will be an incredible asset to the Greystone Family and create an excellent environment at the pool complex, summer camps, and all youth programs. She has a great team with our Assistant Aquatics Director, Patrick Dixon, and Head Swim Coach, Sarah Chapman, returning to Greystone this summer. Torry starts her new position in April. Please welcome her to the Club. Greystone University will host its graduation on Tuesday, April 18th, at 6 PM. All members are encouraged to attend and celebrate these team members on such an incredible accomplishment. Also, we have Greystone University for Members sessions starting on Wednesday, June 7, and Wednesday, September 13th. This is a six-week program meeting once a week, designed to enrich the member experience by sharing in-depth information on all aspects of Club operations. We are working on several improvement projects. Our elevator will be refurbished to like new condition, the paving of the upper tennis/pool lot at Founders has been repaved and expanded, plans are in the works for the installation of LED lights at the main har-tru tennis courts, new cabanas have been purchased for the adult pool, the pool decks will be repainted with a paint designed to keep the deck significantly cooler. Also, new cardio equipment has been ordered for the fitness center and is tentatively scheduled to arrive in late May or early June, and we are working on the development of a new Club App that will enhance the member experience. The entire staff and I could not be more excited for the spring and summer seasons ahead. I hope to see you around the Club soon. Best, Dave ave Porter, General Manager & CEO
